Specification :
With both wireless and wired connections available, the ECM-S1 portable streaming microphone is a compact and lightweight high-performance unit that provides clear, low-noise, minimum audio delay, high-quality audio for easy recording or live-streaming either indoors or outdoors.
Despite its compactness and light weight, the ECM-S1 is equipped with three large-diameter (14 mm) microphone capsules that provide clear, high-quality sound recording with a flat frequency response, particularly in the low-mid-range voice band, while suppressing noise. Great sound quality makes a huge contribution to the overall impression made on viewers by well-produced video.
The low intrinsic noise and wide dynamic range of the microphone allow clear capture of even low-level sound. Designed for streaming, the microphone is tuned particularly to capture the rich textures of the human voice near the mouth clearly and naturally.
Three directional sound capture modes are provided: Uni-directional, Omni-directional, and Stereo. A switch on the side of the microphone allows the user to select the appropriate directivity for the current scene or usage situation.
A digital noise cut filter removes persistent background noise, and a low cut filter on the microphone side reduces unwanted low-frequency sound from wind, air conditioning, and vibration. Less noise reduction is needed post-production, improving workflow efficiency.
A pop guard is included to prevent the annoying popping sounds that can occur due to vocal plosives when the microphone is placed close to the speaker's mouth, allowing vocals, narration, and other audio to be recorded under optimal conditions.
The ECM-S1 comprises compact and lightweight microphone / transmitter and receiver units that provide excellent functionality with high digital sound quality. It can be used in a wide variety of environments, both indoors and outdoors with a camera.
An independent AUDIO LEVEL dial allows real-time adjustment of the audio input level with the upper dial. In addition, the connection status between the microphone and receiver can be checked with the LINK lamp.
The receiver and microphone each have built-in batteries. The receiver can be used continuously with direct power supply when connected to the camera's Multi Interface (MI) Shoe or to a PC or other device. The microphone can be used continuously for about 13 hours when fully charged. The microphone can be used for long periods of time without worrying about the battery.
Bluetooth 5.3 (Bluetooth Low Energy) and a LC3plus codec provide low power consumption, low latency, and high sound quality. Communication is possible at up to 150 m when there is a good line of sight, for flexibility in outdoor microphone placement.
The microphone can be attached to a stand during recording, and the angle of the microphone can be adjusted back and forth. Alternatively, the 1/4" thread on the bottom of the microphone can be used to mount the microphone on a tripod, or a conversion adaptor can be used to attach the microphone to a boom arm.
Connecting the receiver to a camera from Sony that supports the Multi Interface (MI) Shoe, such as one of the α™ series digital interchangeable-lens cameras or vlog cameras, eliminates the need for a separate cable to supply power or to provide the audio interface.
By connecting the receiver to a camera from Sony that supports the Multi Interface (MI) Shoe with a digital audio interface, high-quality audio can be captured and transmitted digitally without degradation, with the wireless connection allowing maximum shooting freedom.
Both the microphone and receiver are equipped with a USB Type-C® port that provides 48 kHz / 24-bit digital audio output. This enables the microphone to be connected to a wide variety of devices, allowing for filming and streaming with a variety of connection methods.
A 3.5 mm mini jack (stereo) is provided for audio output from the receiver, allowing use with cameras, PCs, IC recorders, and other devices not equipped with a Multi Interface (MI) Shoe.
The microphone is equipped with a headphone output jack, allowing audio monitoring via headphones (sold separately) during recording via USB connection.
With a wider selection of Sony microphones available, you can now choose from a broader range of options depending on the situation and application you wish to use the microphone for.
