Specification :
Styled in black, the Sony MDR-1AM2 are wired, circumaural headphones suitable for use with high-resolution audio formats, delivering an open and lifelike sound where DSD is concerned. The headphones utilize an aluminum-coated LCP diaphragm to deliver a precise sound, as well as silver-coated oxygen-free copper cabling to fight against signal degradation, resulting in finer detail and smoother highs.
Sony claims these headphones provide a frequency response of 3 Hz to 100 kHz, which makes them suited for high-resolution audio formats without coloring the sound by extraneous, upper-frequency filtering. For the low-end, built-in Beat Response Control improves the transient response of the bass registers, so you can feel the music as well as hear it.
Despite their 40mm drivers, these headphones are lightweight at 6.6 oz. They also swivel, packing flat to aid in traveling, and provide soft synthetic-leather earpads for comfort. In addition to a connection cable with a standard 3.5mm stereo plug, the MDR-1AM2 supplies a cable for balanced connections, along with another cable sporting a microphone and an in-line remote. A carry pouch is also included.
